Climate Education Reform BC
Noticing inconsistent climate change education between classes within the same school, across schools and different districts, students at my school and I started a campaign against the BC Ministry of Education to implement an adequate climate change and justice education into the curriculum. We approached the issue with a two-pronged approach, one that worked directly from the bottom upwards with local community workshops, and one from the top downwards with municpal and provincial advocacy.
Windermere Deeproots Initiative
In an effort to combat the invasive species in the local ravine near my high school, my classmates and I started an initiative in collaboration with the Still Moons Art Society to facilitate interactive workshops that educated students on invasive species and their removal process. During the workshops, we removed himalayan blackberry plants and field bindweed.
